Movie Overview

Released in 2009, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs is the third installment in the wildly popular Ice Age animated film series. Directed by Carlos Saldanha and co-directed by Mike Thurmeier, this prehistoric adventure takes our beloved characters on their most dangerous journey yet.

The story follows Manny and Ellie, who are expecting their first child, putting Manny in a nervous father-to-be mode. Diego feels he's losing his predator edge and considers leaving the herd, while Sid the sloth becomes obsessed with having a family of his own. When Sid steals three dinosaur eggs, he finds himself in a mysterious underground world inhabited by dinosaurs, leading the entire herd on a rescue mission to save their friend.

The film brings back all the fan-favorite characters while introducing some memorable new ones, most notably Buck, the one-eyed weasel who becomes their guide in the dinosaur world.

As with previous installments, Scrat's acorn-chasing antics provide hilarious interludes, this time with the added complication of Scratte, a female saber-toothed squirrel who becomes both a love interest and a competitor for the prized acorn.
